Agree it up front
Agree the work, the price and how you’ll pay before anything starts. Keep it in the chat so you both have a record.
Check credentials
For gas, electrics and other regulated work, ask to see the registration the law requires, such as a Gas Safe ID card.
Keep it in the app
Chat in the app, and don’t share more personal details than the job needs. Share your exact address only when you’re ready.
Trust your instincts
If something feels wrong, you don’t have to go ahead. Tell someone you trust where you’ll be when meeting someone new.
