Tasker Terms

Version 1.0 · In effect from

Draft for legal review. This document hasn’t been approved yet and may change before launch.

These terms apply if you offer services on A Task Doer (a “Tasker”). They add to our Terms of Use, which also apply to you. If the two conflict, these Tasker Terms win for anything about offering services.

[Company legal name] (“we”, “us”) runs A Task Doer.

  1. 1.You are self-employed

You use A Task Doer as an independent, self-employed trader. You are not our employee, worker, agent or partner, and nothing in these terms makes you one.

You decide whether to go Online, which requests to accept, what you charge and how you do the work. We don’t supervise, direct or pay for your work.

  2. 2.Verifying your identity

Before you can go Online and appear to Clients, you must upload a valid photo ID, and we check it. We may ask for more information, refuse an application, or remove approval if a document is invalid or expires.

You can also upload certificates, such as Gas Safe or NICEIC registration, to show as badges on your profile. We check that the document looks valid for the badge. We don’t check your work or your skills, and a badge isn’t our recommendation.

  3. 3.Your profile

    • Your name, photo, services, hourly rate, base postcode and service area must be accurate and your own.
    • Only offer services you are qualified, competent and, where needed, licensed or registered to do.
    • Your rate is a guide for Clients. You agree the final price with each Client.
    • If you trade under a business name, add it as your trading name. It is shown to the Client when you accept a request.
  4. 4.Being Online

Online means you are available for requests now. While you are Online, the app uses your device’s location to show Clients an approximate distance to you. It never shows your exact position.

Go Offline when you aren’t available. If you aren’t active for a while, the app may set you Offline for you.

Answer requests within the time the app shows. If you don’t, the request expires.

  5. 6.Price and payment for the work

You agree the price and how you will be paid directly with the Client. We don’t take payment for the work, hold it, or pass it on, and we aren’t responsible if a Client doesn’t pay you.

  6. 7.Platform fees

We may charge Taskers a fee for connections. If we do, the amount, when it is charged and how it is worked out will be shown in the app before it applies to you, and we will give you notice of any change.

Fees are charged to the card you add in the app, through Stripe. If a payment fails, we may stop you going Online until it is paid.

  7. 8.Conduct

Treat Clients with respect, turn up when you say you will, and tell the Client straight away if you can’t. Don’t ask Clients to contact you outside the app before you have accepted their request.

We may warn, suspend or remove Taskers who break these terms or the Terms of Use, who receive repeated complaints, or whose ratings or cancellations suggest a risk to Clients.

  8. 9.Responsibility for your work

You are responsible for the work you do and for anything that goes wrong because of it. If a claim is made against us because of your work or your breach of these terms, you agree to cover our reasonable losses from it, unless they were caused by us.

  9. 10.Leaving

You can stop offering services at any time by going Offline, or close your account in the app. Any fees already due still need to be paid.

  10. 11.Contact us
